History

Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) has been a leader of the animal welfare movement since the shelter opened in 1885. In 2005, it became a no-kill shelter and was one of the leaders in the coalition for Jacksonville to be the largest no-kill city in America in 2014.

We chose Fetch over the other partner because they were very shelter-centric. It's a company that really understands sheltering and our challenges.

Mission

“Helping people who are in crises is the single most rewarding aspect of what we do,” Denise Deisler, CEO of JHS, said. That help extends not only to the 250 to 300 animals that temporarily stay at the shelter at one time, but to the entire animal welfare community. For example, instead of closing its doors during the 2020 quarantine, JHS had team members working 7 days a week to find forever homes for the animals.
