Trupanion doesn’t offer dental coverage for every tooth & that could cost you
Fetch is the only provider that covers injury and disease in all adult teeth and your pet’s gums at any veterinarian in the U.S. or Canada. Why does this matter? Periodontal disease is the most common disease in dogs and cats, meaning it’s more likely than not that your pet will get it. Dental treatment for pets is also expensive (the average cost of a root canal is $3,140). Those bills can add up fast, making it crucial to have full-mouth dental coverage. Trupanion offers dental coverage, but the limitations and exclusions could cost your pet — and your wallet.
Trupanion doesn’t cover injury & disease in every tooth
Trupanion doesn’t cover teeth outside the canines and carnassials. That means 34 of your pet’s teeth wouldn’t get the complete dental coverage you’d get with Fetch. About two-thirds of dental injuries happen outside of the four canine teeth, according to Frontiers in Veterinary Science.
Trupanion won’t cover your pet’s dental illness if they’ve missed an annual oral exam
Trupanion will only cover dental illness for your pet if their teeth are examined at least once a year. Fetch doesn’t exclude coverage just because your pet misses an annual dental exam.
Trupanion has less pre-existing conditions coverage than Fetch
Trupanion won’t cover your pet’s dental illness if they have tartar before enrollment or during the waiting period. With Fetch, tartar is not considered a pre-existing condition for dental illness.
Pet insurance cost comparison: Fetch has more flexibility for reimbursement rate & more
When you get a pet insurance quote with Fetch, you’ll be given options to customize the cost. You can choose the deductible, max annual payout and reimbursement rate that best fits your pet and your budget.
Trupanion doesn’t offer the same flexibility — they require that all pets have unlimited coverage at a higher cost when that’s not right for all pets or all budgets.
It's easy to customize your price with Fetch
Fetch offers coverage for Wellness vet visits. Trupanion does not.
With Fetch, you can add Wellness coverage to get paid back for your pet's routine and preventive care. With coverage for unexpected vet visits as well as the preventive care that helps keep your pet healthy, you’ll have the total package to protect your pet’s health. Trupanion doesn’t offer wellness coverage at all. This means you won’t get paid back for annual exams, dental cleanings, flea and tick prevention, vaccinations and more with Trupanion.
