Brandywine Valley SPCA
History
Since 1929, Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) has been putting animal welfare first while encouraging community members to do so, too. The organization includes Pennsylvania’s first no-kill, open-admission shelter, located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Since BVSPCA was established, it has extended its impact to five campuses throughout Delaware and Pennsylvania. In 2024, BVSPCA expanded its lifesaving mission further, entering into affiliation agreements with shelters in Central PA and New Jersey.
Mission
The Brandywine Valley SPCA exists to end animal suffering and to involve the entire community in the welfare and well-being of animals. BVSPCA’s mission is to put the “human” back in humane animal treatment and advocate on their behalf. Its vision is to be the recognized leader in animal welfare that empowers communities to treat life with respect and dignity. And the results of their efforts show. BVSPCA rescues and places over 17,000 animals into forever homes each year. By partnering with Fetch, the organization takes pet care to the next level, too. “Pets are brand new family members to our adopters, and the cost of medical care can be a financial burden, especially when emergencies arise,” Mike Kaviani, chief operations officer at BVSPCA, said. “We’re grateful to partner with Fetch to provide our adopters with the opportunity to have peace of mind knowing their new companion will be covered should there be a need.”
